Suck 'em and see!
Just been turned on to these by a friend in Germany. Seem to be in the Studio Projects, SE Electronics price bracket. Just wondering if anyone has first hand experience.

I was actualy looking at the SC150

the t.bone SC150 Small Diaphragm, Multi-CapsuleCondensermikrophon, omnidirectional, cardioid, hypercardioid, incl. Microclamp, incl. wooden case

£67??? with 3 caps? They must be bad I'm thinking

I see they have a few (almost) clones of the BLUE mics too. Come on, who ownes some of these?

Yeah i looks like it might be nice, pretty sure its a permutation of an SE mic - they have a whole new range apparently but no info on their site. The thing I'm concerned about is the lack of information provided by thomann. They quote things liek 20Hz to 20kHz - that could be +- 100db !

thomann are like that with all their info. I think the guy they paid to do the english translations skimped a bit

Is there an official TBone website or are they just something Thomann have dreamed up and are sourcing from Asia...........either way, considering their obvious similarity (rip off) to some well known mics, I would approach them with some caution.

I'm travelling to Germany in a few weeks, and thought about getting a t.bone as well. I kinda like the t.bone Retro Tube, and the SCT800. Both are tube mics; the "Retro Tube" is cardoid, omni, figure8 und 6 pattern in between, while the SCT800 is cardoid only. Both cost the same, EUR 298.-, which is not too expensive.

Any European users here who have experience with t.bone products?

i used the large diaphram and while it is no neumann or whatever, it's nice, clean and very quiet. It gives you back what you put in. That could be good or bad really... (the singer i used it on wanted it to sund more "unreal", in the positive sense... it will not do that. )

Ive seen these and tried them out...the pawn broker had a few SM57s with fake labels on them but they were really the T-Bones, cause that is what they said under the fake shure one...they look alot like a 57 but are lighter weight and sound tinny...for a little more you can have an EV CO4 so It doesnt make sense to me to buy something that only looks like a real SM57.

I have to assume the rest of the line are going to be about as bad.

Its like the cute street whore on the corner...attractive on the outside...but riddled with diseases on the inside...dont waste your money.

Hi Lemon Tree,

I have some info about the sc150 sdc you are interested in.

I just got hold of one used and also a sE1A.
Given that the sE is approx double the cost of the sc150 with only one capsule.

They sound very similar and i'm not surprised.
Having had them apart, the capsules are the same (vent holes are styled differently) but the capsules are identical.

The circuit is also the same but the sE is surface mount and the t.bone is through hole but the exact same circuit with identical transformers.

The sE has a better FET (Toshiba SK170BL) so will likely all sound similar.
The FET in the 150 is more likely to vary a bit from mic to mic.

I will do a shoot out this week on acoustic guitar, then I will do some mods and repeat the shootout.

No need for caution, but indeed they are Chinese, mostly from the Alctron factory but some are from 797.
T.bone is just the Thomann badge for the same mics as MXL, Nady, cheaper CADs etc, etc.

That is the downside to what happens when we tell Newbs to use the search function...lol.
