I have a Macbook Pro 10.4.11, using M-Powered Pro Tools and Firewire 1814 interface. All sorts of problems lately to where I basically can't use it anymore and I haven't gotten any answers that have fixed it on here (yet). So....thinking that inevitably I will need to rethink my setup and get some new gear, so looking for suggestions. I think a major issue in my setup has been that my laptop only has one firewire port. I used to daisy chain from the interface to the ext hard drive, then later I used a hub and it worked fine. Long story....ext hard drive crashed, bought new one, tried same set up, aint working anymore. So...suggestions? I think the obvious answer would be to upgrade computers to one that has multiple firewire ports, but not sure I have the cash to do that. Short of that, any suggestions? Interface, software, etc....thanks.

put an expresscard based firewire card in it. That will give you another port or two

Ok, but it's a FW 400. Would that still work? What port does the expresscard go into? Sorry, this is where I get somewhat clueless.
