Hi all,

Up to the present, the voices in my QY700 music sequencer sufficed me, and I used my Casio CTK-541 keyboard solely as a slaved component. Now, however, my father-in-law has let me use his Roland RS-5, and I don't know how to go about properly hooking it up, to my sequencer, so as to utilize some of its voices in my creations. He couldn't find the manual, and I wasn't successful at finding such info on the Net. Also, does anyone know if this particular 'board incorporates a "Local Off" utility? All help would be truly appreciated.

Sorry Nate, I'm not familiar with that synth but I also use a yamaha sequencer (QY-70). I would assume you just connect the MIDI I/O to the QY-700 and chose a channel to control the synth from. Change the MIDI channel of the Roland to that channel and play into the sequencer. If both the MIDI in and out are hooked up right you should be able to play back recorded sequences from the QY-700 to the synth.

I'm sorry if this is elemetary to you I don't know the specifics of that synth.

Jake-owa,

Thanks for your reply. You know, it's a shame that I am no further along than I am, in the field of MIDI. I have owned my QY700 for better than four years, now, but have never delved into the full capabilities of this fine machine. I have done some really nice things on it, but I guess you could say that I used it more like an analog multi-tracker. I DO wish to learn more about my machine, now, and about the benefits of MIDI. I will most definitely need the manual for this RS-5 'board, and am looking into ordering a replacement copy.

Thanks again
