I want to transfer recorded audio from my Fostex fd8 into my computer for arranging and editing. I can only transfer 2 tracks at a time with the Fostex. If I use 8 tracks on a song I guess I will need to sync up the 8 tracks (or 4 x2)using Cakewalk or some other program. Is it difficult to precisely sync them up? I heard this could be a nightmare to do, but I thought you could just visually line up the tracks. Any pointers?
hey adam,
i dealt with the same problem with my fostex D-80. there is no scsi output just 8 rca in/outs and optical.
all of my tracks were saved to dat tape, so i painstakingly loaded the tracks into the computer 2 tracks at a time, making sure that
i captured the "beep" at the beginning of each track(s). at the time i lined up each track in samplitude and zoomed in on the beep and lined them up..
this lasted for about 3 songs, until i gave up.
now i have been archiving some of the old D-80 tracks by coming out of the rca's on the D-80 into my multiple input soundcard (Aark Aardvark).
it's not a digital transfer but it is as clean as it gets and all 8 tracks dump at once.
