Any know how to sync an alesis sr-16 with cakewalk so all the beats line up correctly in the bars?

Can you work the whole MIDI thing with your drum machine? If so, you can enter info in a MIDI track, and if you have the MIDI interface hooked-up, the drum machine will play the notes you entered in your Cakewalk MIDI track (entered in the piano-roll view or the staff view). To record, just arm an audio track for recording, and when the MIDI track is playing through your drum machine, the audio track will record it. Hope this was what you were looking for.

Did you make the sequencer in Cakewalk ?

Or you made it in SR-16, then you wanna load it into Cakewalk ?

I asume you make it in your SR-16, and it had dual MIDI conection In and Out hooked to cakewalk. Then you should set Cakewalk's tempo the same value you set in SR. Go to project option (under Options menu) to select clock source. Check the MIDI Sync. Arm numbers of Audio tracks as you need (mono or stereo). Go to SR, soloing track you wanna record (or by muting other parts) to get single part in a single cake's track (eg. Kick drums alone, snare alone, etc.). Hook audio out from SR to your soundcard's line in. Press record button in cake. It'll wait for MIDI sync. Play the SR. It will generate MIDI signal telling cake to start recording automaticaly. Yet generate sound of the part you wanna record... There you go... Was that help...?
