I recently purchased a Motu 2408mk2 (used with no manual) and a Behringer ADA8000 for the extra ins. I am using Sonar Producer 3.0 software. I plugged the Behringer in optically and activated Bank B on the Motu and Sonar recognized the inputs. I get signal and everything seems to work ok except I get clicks like a clock from the Behringer. I have the Behringer set as the master at 44.1, the same as my project setting in Sonar. I am new to synching devices together and would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

I use a MOTU 828mkII (master), and an ADA-8000 (slave), sync'ed using wordclock, a BNC cable from the WC output of your MOTU going to the WC input on the ADA-8000 should do the trick for you.

You don't even have to do that. Go to the MOTU control panel and select the clock source as ADAT OPTICAL #1 if you plugged into group 1 (there are 3 banks of ADAT in and out). That'll definately do the trick.

I tried switching the clock source to ADAT optical B or 2 since I am plugged into bank B. I was assuming that the A bank was for the 8 analog ins on the Motu. I still got the clicks though. Dam, I wish I had a manual. I'll try the BNC. Any other sugggestions? Could I have something else configured improperly?

I'll bet you have both the ADA8000 and the MOUTU 2408 set as master. Try setting the 2408 to masters and the ADA8000 to slave. That should clear up your problems.

Setting the MOTU to ADAT OPTICAL (not ADAT SYNC) is slaving the MOTU to the incoming optical data stream. When playing back, set the MOTU to internal clock. As far as the Behri goes, if there's nothing connected to its word clock input then it thinks it IS the master. Check to make sure the samplinf rate is the same on both units and also the bit depth (44.1 or 48khz/16 or 24 bits).

Thanks guys. I went the BNC route and it works great. I tried the other scenarios and still got the clix. Maybe as I get Deeper into this I'll understand why. I've been using an Akai DPS16 for a couple of years and this rig kicks it's butt. 'preciate the help. Joe
