I would appreciate any assistance with this. I am working with an old set up because this is mostly a hobby and my needs are simple.
My keyboard (Yamaha SO3) is currently synced to an old Mac (Quadra 605) with an old version of CuBase. My Midi set-up works fine this way.
Now I am adding an 8-track cassette (Tascam 448 MKII) to the set up. I would like to record a synctrack on track 8 of the Tascam so the Tascam triggers CuBase on the Mac and in turn play the Yamaha. Ideally, I would hear all the Cubase tracks and still have 7 analog tracks on the Tascam to add acoustic stuff.
I have a Midiman Smartsync box. The box's tape in goes to the sync out of the Tascam and the box's tape out goes to the sync in of the Tascam. The Midi out is hooked to the Midi in of the keyboard, and the Midi in to the Midi out of the keyboard. Then, the keyboard is hooked to the Modem input of the Mac via a Mac din cable.
I know the CuBase settings are right. How do I record a sync track on the Tascam to playback the Sequencer? What am I doing wrong?
