I got offered a Symetrix 302 for super cheap ($75, it lists for $279). Does anyone have any opinions about this preamp? I can't find any reviews on it, so does anyone here use one or have you?

It's a decent mic pre, but nothing special. If I needed the extra channels, I might pick one up if it were extremely cheap -- as in something like 50 bucks or less. Since it first came out (and the time of the above review), there have been better, cheaper pres released that are in the same vain -- i.e. M-audio DMP-3, Rane MS-1B that use superior components.

Their predecessor, the 201, was also a better unit, by the way.

Thanks for that review! I think for $75, it's worth it, since I currently only have 2 channels.

This thread is in the wrong forum... anyway, I think all the $300 and under preamps are all about the same, give or take a little. With than said, I have a Symetrix 302 and I like it.

You must be deaf, stupid, or both, to quote you. You can't tell the difference between a Presonus BlueTube and an M-Audio DMP3? Moving from the former to the latter was like lifting a blanket off of my mics. Moving from a Fostex mixer to my Focusrite Penta was also like night and day.

You're just plain wrong.

Why is this in the wrong forum? I see microhpone preamp questions in the microphone forums all the time... Seems to make sense to me.
