I have SX3 and was wondering if the upgrade to Cubase 4 was worth the extra $200? Are there any new features that you would consider "must have's"? How about the four new VST's?
Have a bout of GAS at the moment so I'm looking at either upgrading Cubase or getting an E-Bow for my guitar (not quite like with like).

Until they start implementing vista optimizations and I see there is some real evidence that they are effective, I am staying with SX3

Yeah I haven't found any reason to upgrade either.

And if you use DirectX plugins, that's a reason not to upgrade right there, because they aren't supported in Cubase 4. Although I don't have any that I use myself.

well worth the $200... and the new drivers should be in the next update... Q3 '07...

Worth it? Hmm...

Was it worth the upgrade? The jury is still out on that one.

However, when importing older projects from SX3 that I worked on for a while, I did notice a little more "clarity" in the mix. This might be do the improved compressors and EQ section, I dunno.

But it was a noticeable difference to all the ears at our studio. So I guess in the never-ending quest for better quality, I would say it was worth it.

Also some of the new synths are pretty cool. Barely had a chance to check them out in depth just yet, but did use a few for incidental music (background music under VOs and stuff). Not bad.
