1. Hard drive with Cakewalk on it croaks. Decide to reup and get Cubase SX.

2. Get new HD, put Cubase SX on it. Try recording. Latency of about .5 sec.

3. Someone tells me a certain kind of driver will eliminate latency between
SBLive and Cubase. Download it. SX or SP or XS or something.

4. Eliminates the latency SOMEWHAT but now I need to change to 48000, and
Cubase shuts my PC down when it goes thru the process of looking for ASIO.

5. Disable SX SP DL Whatever, and am back to square 1.

Hi there Mr. B.
The KX project (I'm assuming that's the ASIO driver u r referring 2) requires recording at 48K. I have an SB live card, which uses KX driver, and at first it's tricky, but u'll get the hang of it. I achieve very low laytency levels with this thing. You may have to re-install the KX driver. In your set up menu inside cubase, u have the option of several drivers; ASIO is 1. Why it shuts down though, I haven't a clue, however. Perhaps look if the KX driver u downloaded was the right fit for your card, as these guys have a driver for several cards other than SB Live.
Good luck...
