Where to next pls.
windows 11. I think I’d like to get ReaLearn next.
Please tell me where to get the files as im a little scared of downloading some file with a virus or malware.
Thanks

Btw I lost my reaper forum password and can’t sign in now, otherwise I’d ask there.
Im getting old……

Thanks I tried that spantini, I tried to contact the mods, let’s see what happens.

You should be able to use the password request forms to have them send you an Email right away. The Email will have instructions. You'll need to select a NEW PASSWORD and it will let you log in with that.

Welcome to SWS (it is a MUST for all serious Reaper Users in my book)!

Tried that several times Spantini. Didn’t get an email , no responses from the mods nothing.

And to top it all the reapack wont let me download it To windows machine, Something about the download is. Not secure or something.

Resorted to downloading a windows x64 version to my IPad then mailing it to another windows machine.
plonked it in the reaper user plugins folder. Asks me do I want to use reaper to open, yes.
that worked reapers now open with a track with reapack as title and a small item in the timeline, assume that’s right up to now.
shut down reaper and reopen and go looking for reapack in extensions. Nothing.
What a day.

Reapack should be a .DLL file that you place inside of the Reaper\UserPlugins subdirectory... you don't Open it with anything.

It sounds like your antivirus program is interfering with your download. I just went to the Reapack page, hit download the Win64 version, and it came down in about 5 seconds. The problem isn't on the Reapack end, it has to be on your end if it says the download is "not secure".

Fair enough that could well be the case I’ll revise my browser setting in future.
It doesn’t explain why when the .dll is deposited in my user plugins folder it does not appear in the toolbars extensions tab.

thanks ujn and TalismanRich and every who took the time.
appreciate the responses

Kip, did you follow the directions for installation. It goes in a specific folder, the same one as the SWS extensions dll.

Under Options click on Show Reaper Resources Path in Explorer.
Go to the folder USERPLUGINS and paste the DLL file in that folder.
Close Reaper

When you fire up Reaper again, it should show up at the top of the Extensions dropdown. The first time it fires up it opens a dialog box.

I didn't have an issue with installation on any of my systems.

If you selected to "Use Reaper to Open", then you may need to remove that association in the Windows properties, especially if the option to always use that program was checked. That's the same option you use to associate a file type like a DOC or MP3 to a particular program. You wouldn't want all DLLs to be associated with Reaper!!!

Oops yup I’m bricking it now. I did check the always use.
ok I’ll figure out how to undo that first then I can follow your instruction.
Thanks TalismanRich
folks like me shouldn’t be given access to a pc.lol.

Still no joy downloading reapack cause of the virus software/security settings issue.
I really appreciate the help guys. I know I can do this.
Trouble is making music is more fun.

Can someone explain what this webpage is about?

From what I can see the files are add on’s for reapack,. Have I got that right?
Or Is this the place to download reapack too. If so what s the file I need.
looks confusing to me.

Just as an aside my reaper is installed in “program files“ Not “programx64” as I expected.
It doesn’t interfere with finding the USER PLUGINS folder .
Ive now figured out why when I did a hd search for reaper user plugins it came up blank.
turns out it’s inside of a reaper resources folder.

Thanks people

Github is a repository for lots of software. There is a signficant amount of open source software there. You'll see actual code that you can recompile, modify, etc, as specified by the particular license.

Are you trying to download from GitHub instead of from Reapack.com? The download from ReaPack.com is a simple DLL file. You should be able to tell the software to bypass the alert and proceed with the download.

The current version should be in ProgramFiles, not the (x86) folder. It's not a critical issue, but Windows by default will install 64 bit programs in the Program Files folder. 32bit programs will go in the x86 folder. It's more so that the user can easily distinguish between 32 and 64 bit applications.

gottya so the repository is a storage depot.

No I tried downloading from the hellgoboss ReaPack.com site.

Yer funny that I reported the file as safe (Microsoft report) and it still wouldn’t do it.

Ill figure it out eventually.

“The current version etc”.
Phew at least that’s not interfearing with it.

Im building up to having another go soon.

What AV software are you using? MS defender shouldn't block it unless you have it set to not allow certain programs to run.

Under the Settings - Privacy set up, look to see if this slider is checked:

security settings.webp
You can always turn settings back on after you get the file.

Kip, are you using Windows 11 and MS Edge browser? If so, Check Edge's security settings: For Windows 11, Check this setting. CNET

If you are in Win 10, its under Settings - Privacy. There is a setting for Block Potentially unwanted apps, and for Defender Smartscreen.

Also, when I tried to download with Edge, it tried to stop me, twice! but it also allowed me an option to keep the file. After saying that I wanted to keep the file, it let me download the file. I normally use Firefox or Chrome and have no issue downloading it. The extremely rare malicious files are caught by the antivirus scan.

Microsoft tries really hard to make it difficult for you do some things, thinking that most users really aren't savvy enough to know what they are trying to do.

I remember many years ago when browsers first introduced the use of certain words as triggers to protect you from going to things like porn sites. One user group had a link to View Breasts.

If you clicked on it, the MS browser would stop you because of the word breast. It would ask if you wanted to see breasts. If you clicked to go ahead, the next page asked if you were old enough to see breasts, then it finally asked if you REALLY wanted to see breasts. The last picture was a pair of hands holding two chicken breasts. Obviously the point being that Microsoft's simple solution would create a problem when none existed.

Goddam Indeed I am using Edge.
Smart screen. Too effing smart for me.
Thanks I’ll check in the am when I awake. I think you might have hit the nail on the head.
Thanks for persisting Rich. Much appreciated.
I‘ll be back with a follow up.

Swapped to Firefox browser.
Bosh
Thanks Rich
I now have reapack in extensions.
I hate being held hostage by software.
