Went from a basic m-audio mobile pre to a Zed 10FX. One of the ways I was recording was taking a matched stereo pair of SDCs for the acoustic (using both channels on my pre) and panning left and right, eq'ing and it had a nice sound. Since the Zed only passes 1 mixed audio signal through USB for recording would the best way be to just pan left and right on the channels on the mixer and record as 1 track. At that point I've lost the ability to software EQ the channels seperately but that's not a big loss for how much cleaner the signal sounds. Is there a better way that I'm missing?

That would work. You can record it as a single stereo channel.

If you want to EQ left and right separately, then set up two mono tracks in your DAW, record the left into one, the right into the other, and pan accordingly

I tried doing the mono tracks and I guess it's just the way the Zed 10 sends the signal. If I monitor through Logic instead of through the mixer, record enable and monitor both tracks (input 1 and input 2) no matter which mic I make noise on you hear it on both channels. I guess it just sends 2 tracks but they are duplicates of the completed mixed signal?

Either way I'm fine, the sound I get through the Zed 10FX is unmistakably better than the m-audio mobile pre. I guess the preamps in the Zed are way better for the money. I can work around the channel panning, just curious if this was normal or if I'm an idiot.
