They both seem to be pretty big in their industry. People seem to like neutrik more than switchcraft. Why? My impression is that there can't possibly be any real audiable difference between the two. Does it have to do more with reliability and easy assmebly?

When I make my patch cables soon I'm planning on using Switchcraft TRS connectors because they seem to have a slightly smaller diameter than Neutrik TRS connectors. That's the only reason though, unless someone comes along and tells me that I'm incorrect.

People tend to like Neutrik for xlr's for the logistics of assembling them. People also tend to prefer Switchcraft on 1/4" plugs for the size. The new Neutrik 1/4" compression plugs are pretty cool though:)

I like the Neutrik Short plugs for patch bays.
I think they are models: NYS201 for Mono and NYS202 for Stereo.
They are very nice and low profile.

I like only Nuetrik, I think they look "Cleaner" than switchcraft when your all done.

I do think the Neutrik XLRs look much much better than Switchcrafts, and they are a cinch to assemble, just as long as you don't forget to put a part on, or put it on backwards.

Either way, you're getting a solid connector.

Agreed, and in which case, the easier to assemble has to be your first choice.

Neutrik are just easier to put together in general + the TRS 1/4" jack is designed better + speakon connectors are real solid. XLR connectors are much more reliable. I use switchcraft only if neutrik does not make the connector. But both are good.
