Hello everyone I am new to this forums and home recording. :)

I have polished my black painted guitar two days before. I used the Planet Waves Polish Express Pack. I followed the instruction given and applied the "Restore", "Protect" and "Shiny" accordingly. Afterward, I can clearly see swirl marks all over my guitar under the light that weren't there before polishing. Those evil marks won't come when I rubbed my guitar with a micro filber cloth.

What should I do to get rip of those swirl marks of my axe?

I'm not familiar with the product you have used but reading up on their site what you have is a burnishing cream, some carnaubra wax and a simple polishing cloth.

Swirl marks are always a result of cutting into the polish. These occur when you flatten the polish after loading up topcoats or when you use a burnishing cream to hand polish. The visibility of the swirl marks will depend on the grade of cut that the burnishing cream or compound has. Those marks were either there before you started or you have added them using the cream supplied. To get rid of them you need to cut with something finer to remove them. You need to be careful when you do that you do not cause further problems. Find out what finish is on your guitar before doing anything else.

What process did you do? Describe it from start to finish.

First are you sure that it is not just hardened wax? Get the cloth and work a small area with just a clean grit free cloth does it improve?

The best thing to clean your guitar with is a VERY slightly damp, clean cloth to remove dirt and buff up with a chamois cloth. If you have harder to remove dirt or marks you are moving into a potentially damaging area of guitar care and repair.

I and others have always warned against people getting involved in finishing because there are so many ways it can go wrong and you need a good deal of experience to identify exactly what the problem is and how to overcome it.

What guitar is it and what finish has it got on it? No one can help much until you can answer that, As how to proceed will depend on what finIsh you have now.

:) Hello muttley600

My guitar is an Epiphone LP. :) It is black painted and I believe the guitar has a poly finish.

The way I applied the polish is first started with the burinishing cream. I put cream on my micro fiber cloth and work it into the guitar's surface using a circular motion, much like what the instruction states. Then I dry it the cream out and remove it with a clean cloth. I did the same with the wax. After all that work, I wip the guitar clean with the preteated cloth given with the package.

I think I might have applied the cream and the wax too excessively on the guitar and left them on for too long, so swirl marks appear. I guess I love my guitar a little too much. hehe
