Here's the latest version of a song I wrote about addiction (cleaned up recording). I tried to make it generic so people with varying addictions can identify with it. I'm waiting for some bass before I put it in MP3 Clinic. Let me know what you think.

Sweet Addiction

Another night and I know I won’t sleep
Can feel the hunger that’s inside of me
It’s always for you that my body yearns
I’m lying here desperate, awaiting your return
Don’t know why you make me feel this way
Should run from you but I can’t find the strength
This restless feeling, it won’t let me be
You’re My Sweet Addiction, got a hold on me

When I see you give it up to somebody else
If I said I don’t want it I’d be fooling myself
It cuts like a knife I feel it turning inside
As long as I can I’m holding on to my pride
Just a taste of your love would make me so high
You know I can’t take that chance, but it would feel so right
I want you so bad, but you’re no good for me
You're my Sweet Addiction, you got a hold of me

(Bridge)
My Sweet Addiction, I can’t get over you
Yeah you control me and everything I do
I fight the hunger I want you all the time
Sometimes I feel like I might go out of my mind

Break
Bridge

I know what’s right and this is just so wrong
But my desire for you is much too strong
It's always the same, feel it everyday
It's just an empty feeling just won't go away
You don’t even know what you’re doing to me
You got an innocent smile but I can see.
It’s a real fine line between pleasure and pain
You’re My Sweet Addiction that I can’t explain

Don’t know why you make me feel this way
Should run from you but I can’t find the strength
It a restless feeling, it won’t let me be
You’re My Sweet Addiction, you got a hold on me

I've only listened on computer speakers, but it sounds good to me.

I remember this song from a while back when you posted it as a rough cut. I liked it then, and this recording sounds better :)

Thanks Freddy - I cut out some of the lead break to trim it down a bit more too.....Glad you like it......:)

Is that your lead playing? NICE!
I really like this song, lyric wise and music wise. Id cruise down mainstreet with the top down and a cool summer nights breeze blowing in good looking girls hairs rollerblading down the side of the road. I dont know why but I got this image of cruising in Miami at sunset close to the beach haha.

Hey Mike - thanks for listening. Yes that's my lead playing, thank you ;) glad you like it. I'm working more with my Strat on leads nowadays...it has a nice sustain to it when you kick in that boost on the tone knob....

:cool::):cool::)

Listened once, the groove definitely makes the lyrics come alive. I was not fond of them on the page, to be honest. They feel a little dictated by the rhymes. But, hearing them sung is entirely different and they do pop much better through the speakers.

I think you could stand to take a few more risks with your voice. You sound like there are bigger sounds inside that you're afraid to let out.

Good work!

Ah Ido1957,
You do cloak dark things in a sweet delivery. I'll have to go back & reappraise all of your lyrics now. EXCELLENT song & tops solo. The non specific nature of the addiction is good though my mind defaults to LUV & I don't mean orgasm.
You dance the near rhymes quite well & then hammer the resolution true rhymes expertly.

I've had that comment a few times before on this song. The lyrics don't read that well, but once you hear the song they fit. Strange the way that goes....
I'm not a big risk taker but I know where you're coming from. This song is light on punch because of the key. I think it started about 3 steps higher but I couldn't hit a few of the notes so I took it down - thus taking away some of the power for the rest of the song. Glad you liked the song!

Ray - Thanks for the listen and the kind feedback. This song was not written about love originally; it was the dark side you allude to. However, when I slipped that "taste of your love" in there I think it opened up the interpretation for LUV. I thought that was cool so I left it in there.

:D:):D:)
