If I purchase a Cool Edit Pro package second hand, is it going to run on my computer? ie. is it programmed to allow transfer of ownership? I've seen CEP for sale on Ebay quite a few times, but am still wondering.

Sure, it'll work. But if you want upgrades and bug fixes and technical help, make sure you're buying a copy that legit. Make sure you get the serial number that comes with it so you can register. Hey, hang on a minute, I just thought of something. If the guy you buy your copy from registered it earlier in *his/her* name, what's Syntrillium gonna think about that? Hm....

Think I'll check this out. I will, as the saying goes, be back.

You can't legaly buy most software second hand because your only buying the licence in the first place.

Your better off just downloading the warez version off Morpheus or Kazaa.

I went to the Cool Pro site and put the question and got only one reply to the effect: 'why not buy it? what could go wrong?' However, Syntrillium didn't respond.

jon, just before you plunk down your readies on the software, why not email Syntrillium.com and ask them?

methinks it would be considered an illegal version since the person buys the license, but is not legally allowed to sell that license...just go out and buy the real copy. I am pretty sure that when someone is licensed a copy of software, the license is only good for that person's private use. The moment they try to make this license public by selling it, I believe this sold copy is illegal...
