yeah I put the snare mic under the snare as Superlux recommend's. The snare mic has a lot of high end in it but this is nice means a nice crisp sound is achievable with some EQ.. The over heads actually sound very nice for what they are lol please check out the tune I out on my myspace... Hot Dog its called..
It was a very limited recording session I only had a two channel sound card so recorded the vocals on one and the backing track with a live mix of the drums on the other channel..
I set up the monitoring so the vocalist could hear the drums and the backing track and their own vocals but the drummer could only hear the backing track and vocals.. the drums were loud enough without going through his headphones.. Keeping the vocals separate from the backing track and rums meant I could effect the vocals with compression and mix them with the other channel..
I think the recording went well considering the extremely limiting situation and equipment..
Please comment if you have feedback thanks!
This drummer liked both cymbals on one side so used one overhead close miking the high hat and one on the two cymbals facing away from the snare and rest of kit
Hey Superlux makes good mic's that sound real, The overheads you are using have to go or maybe it is just me, visit www.AudioHipster.com and see what 2 Superlux mic's can sound like on Drums. Thanks Doyen
