I didn't tape the half time show and you could only see it a few times for a few seconds but The Whos drums had three over heads? kinda weird I thought and I also didn't see any kick drum mics! Unless they were small and mounted inside.
Does anyone have any insight to this????

I did notice the 3 mics - maybe one was a spare like they use on newscasters?

It's on YouTube. Truthfully I thought it was kinda sad or I'd post it. They sounded better as it went on but the vocals were cringers at first and the whole thing struck me as kinda "why, besides money, would you do this?" 'cause it felt forced to me.

I did like the fact that Zack messed with the fills in "Don't Get Fooled Again" and didn't do what most people would do - try and play exactly what Moon played. 'Cause Moon only played what he played on that song once and if he played it again he'd fuck with the licks for sure.

My thought was..... there was three cymbals so mic each one! ? ! ?

Ya at first I thought that roger was going to burn out in 30 seconds but he got better as the set progressed. Maybe some warm up would of helped or maybe he thought he would burn out as he had in past shows.

Who ever was mixing the show was off too! At times peters' vocals were way out of content to the songs as was some of his guitar work.

Did anyone see kick drum mics? and is there a posting anywhere of the mics used?

the halftime performers don't get paid. They get expenses and that's it.

I would assume the reason to do it would be to play in front of about the largest tv audience you will ever find at one of the few truly worldwide events.

Peters' guitar amp mic as far as I can tell looks like the Shure KSM313 but it's hard to tell you can see that it has a red top but not a wind screen.

And what was up with NO guitar, amp or drum smashing ??? Isn't that the true end climax of any Who performance?? Not to mention NO mic twirling 30 to 50 feet out.

Or slip a disco:laughings::laughings::laughings: they did move around the stage good for over 60yrs old.

Pete hasn't broken guitars for, like, 40 years. They stopped doing that by 1968. I think he's done it on and off for like special events, but that was something that was only done in their early career.

Roger doesn't twirl his mics anymore because of shoulder issues.

Don't think many people outside of America watch it really.

It was the largest Anerican TV audience EVER,106 million viewers average.Opportunities like that don't come along very often and I'm sure "expenses" covers quite a bit of territory.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying it wasn't worth doing or wasn't a big audience. Just pointing out the rest of the world doesn't actually watch Americans throwing a ball around in awe :P

We don't care.:p

There was one spot were Townsend was playing the wrong song for a few seconds.

Never got the HD converter so we just watch DVD's so I missed it all. I have no interest in sports at all anyway so even if I did have the TV hooked up I would have been watching something else anyway. I would have tuned in to The Who tho. An awesome band in the day.

Wrong....it's advertised as the greatest show on Earth everywhere. And there are more football fans outside of the US then you think.

I'm not American, don't live in the US and love it....and I know plenty of other people who do.

It's not so much about the people who love football as it is about people who need to tell you they don't.;):D

I don't know, i think the soccer world cup final gets more viewers. It's big but i wouldn't say the biggest show on Earth everywhere.

What I meant was, it is advertised as that.....;)
And the World Cup is only every 4 years, so it's bound to be the record breaker.
