great sounding acoustic guit.............i like the stereo intro with them.............wasn't crazy about the delay on the vocal, would have prefered just a nice reverb..... that's all subjective though......good singing...........i like the guitar solo........the mix is a tad bass boomy at times, might eq a little bass out of those acoustic guitars, not much though...........nice work

Yep, he's got it pegged... though I disagree about the delay. It added good ambience. It does need some bass and low mids pulled out of the guitars. 250-600Hz looks like your target area. You can also add a little transparency by edging one the the harmonic frequencies up a tad; try twiddling in the 9KHz range.

I wouldn't change a thing at all instrumentally. (and that's pretty significant coming from me, if you're heard my stuff; I am one who is predisposed to very lush, layered arrangements) The sparseness and vocal timbre add a fevered lonliness that the piece really cries for. You nailed it.

Yes... nice warm acoustic sound... hmmm maybe i sound get a nice preamp... :) I like!

I thought it is an interesting sound... it moves along very well
you have an almost paul mcartney tone in your vocals... which is really neat

I wounldnt think you would need to do more work on this... sounds great

thanks

twist: Will probably be the plan. Thanks for the comments.

A1A2: Seems a toss up between delay and/or a better reverb. I'll experiment with that a bit, thanks.

B.SABBATH: It seemed to work! Thanks again.

LI_Slim: "Cut down on the bass and people will start telling you it needs a band." Good point! Never thought of it that way.

David: For this one, and for most I start with an idea on acoustic. Once I get this idea mostly structured, I record it. Then I write lyrics and put vocals down. After that, whatever is needed. This one assembled fairly quickly, I don't usually record songs the same day I write them. Lately I've been into just strumming on acoustic and recording simpler tunes. I'll get back into the drums/electrics/bass stuff eventually. Thanks David.

Llarion: A vote for the delay. Yes I've heard your stuff, commented on a few tunes. This song would be very sparse in comparison. Thanks Phil.

JMarcomb: Glad you like it. Interesting that a few people in the thread don't think it needs any more work. I will redo the lead guitar - it is too sloppy as I'm sure you'd agree! :) Thanks JMarcomb.

Nice sound and feel!

I like the delay on the vox, the echo is at a low enough level that it doesn't interfere with the song as its moving. I could probably have a little of the low cut in the guitars as has been stated but it really isn't a big deal.
IMVHO - I would like to hear the solo down the middle but that AGAIN is a mere personal preference.
A really nice tune with an interesting melody.

You have a ton of talent!

:D

Cool stuff as always. The acoustic was indeed a little boomy on my system. Maybe back off the mic just a tad when recording? Dunno, it might adversely effect the tone too.

I didn't like the all-left-speaker intro the first time I listened, but I've already flip-flopped on that after a few more spins.

Needs bagpipes.

Clipping like a mucker, but to answer your question - no I don't think it needs much. The guitar work is excellent - that and the bit of singing. If you can't leave it alone, then maybe one more instrument, but not drums or bass or a third guitar.

You're changing your style of music and the chords you use and it's all for the good. Whatever you're trying to do is working really well.

I'm not saying that because it's acoustic, either. It's because it's spare, and because the song's so well-written and performed. Plus the fact that it doesn't sound like pop is a plus. This one you've done is one of my favourites. I think it's one of the best songs you've written.

Earlier tonight I posted something in the Cave about how there wasn't much music in the clinic that I really admire a lot. I gotta take a step back from that statement now.

jcmm: Thanks for listening, and the feedback on the delay.

pglewis: Boomy? I don't know, maybe move further back from your speakers when listening eh? :) Yeah, it's boomy. Bagpipes absolutely.

Dobro: Clipping? Not here. Yeah I'm on a bit of an acoustic binge, just simple recordings, quick ideas, quickly recorded. I kinda like this procedure, less over-thinking involved which I tend to do on more involved arrangements.

Thanks for the listen!

Now, in the immortal words of the previous poster, let this sink to the bottom of the clinic pool. Sorry to bump this thread up again, just that I hate not responding to anyone who takes the time to listen.

Hey............., beautiful man. I`m all impressed here :)

I could hear a smooth cello playing the low end for you...

Cello, yeah. A violin would be lovely. Sax would work. Just about anything. Vibes. Harmonica. One instrument more.

I want to know why I'm getting distortion on this mp3.
