Anyone have any experience/comments on this preamp?

It's a DI box as well, so should I assume that it would not be ideal for vocals, but rather bass, etc?

No, I have not had direct experience but the reviews on that box were really great. As a direct box, it seems like it really impressed the guy who was reviewing it for I believe EQ magazine or MIX magazine. I have been considering one myself for a pre-amp and direct box. One of these days I will simply have to hear it, as always, you should definitely try it before you buy it and listen colsely to it.
