Rock Steady
'been really busy for last few weeks, sorry I haven`t been around much, lotsa good tunes on here lately. I need to catch up on my listening.
this is short jam, one of a couple of projects I got on my mind. Its just a scratch of some keys and trying to get two drummers playing together. 'mix is still dark and a little muddy but It`s still on the workbench....

Sweet! Nice groove you got workin there man. Must be nice to have two drummers.... I gotta go all the way to Ohio to drag a drummer outta the local bar to get anything done! Which reminds me, the sumbitch called me at 2:00 am the other night and I forgot to call him back.

The groove

I truly LIVE for this type of FEEL:D
I like the fact that it's a little raw and under-produced.
Not pretentious at all, just honest and FUN to listen to.

Good Work Ken!!!!!!

Taluka weemmah called ...

an ewok friend of mine and said you had hired him for a session on this one, I told him to charge no less than 4 good blachta hides and at least 2 quarts of gwaska dribbleberry wine ... did he show ?

Well, I guess I'll have to download and find out ...

Oh yeah, his cousin' specializes on the 4 foot and 3 foot logs ...

Smooth dude

Nice smooth beat in the beginning, I'm with that.
Mixed very well. Freakin' ewok flushed the toilet with the door open at 1:11 didn't he, those little animals have no manners at all. Last time Taluka was at my place he shed all over the damn couch big time.

Anyway, cool tune, smooth and relaxing.

Stuff like this has a good market in the video game world. Being handy with sounds in general and being able to craft custom sounds is an excellent skill and the video game market is ALWAYS HURTING for ... good 'musicians' . :D

Enjoying, thanks for sharing.

Nice groove to this. Must be nice to have 2 drummers. I have a hard time finding 1 good one here in Oregon. Sometimes I do miss LA because you could find great drummers down there.
The mix is clean. I think the piano could of come out just a tad or maybe eqed, but hey this was just for fun Jammin.
I liked the rolling bass sound you got. How did you record the bass? Been working on the killer bass sound lately and could use some tips.

buck, Dan, Sam, viols, and Myx62,
I appreciate the listens guys. This was just a jam. I been working on trying to improve my drumming and wanted to try using two drum parts. I needed something for the two parts to work with, so I just jammed along and got a buzz, thought i`d drop it in here and see if anybody could cop the groove. The bass is a Jazz bass soundfont played on keyboard, bluejay drum soundfonts, a piano, synth, and a b4. I`ll hopefully have something worthy to put in the tune arena soon.

:)

How do you get two drummers to play in time?

Shoot one!

:D

OK, OK, chill! My best friend is a drummer. Really!

Cool groove you got goin' on here dude. Diggin' those plinkin' ivories in there. Your bass lines are always the shit. Nice Hammond patch.

Like somebody gave the Dead a good kick in the ass.:D

If you ever find a need for my riffin' again, don't hesitate. I dig this kind of stuff.

Smoothest of the smooth... sounds to me like the reverb returns need the highs above 4kHz cut on them... they're really fuzzing up the soundstage (unnecessarily)... you may be happier with this doing that... (esp. on percussion)

Really a nice composition. Cool smooth, twinklee pno sounds... bass sweet... would like a more "gunshot" snare sound on this, instead of the "aluminum milk carton" thing you got goin on :D (either that or brushes)...

The low end is nice and tigh --(uh oh... well... you know what I'm sayin, Kenny... :D dangit...) seriously the bass and kick play nice together.

Kenny, the one man jazz orchestra... will jam for food... mmmmm.... Twinkies :D

Hey Toki, You KNOW this grooves dude! The low end is well spoken for and bass and kick clearly discernable. I would like to hear more diverse hi-hat work from either one of those drummers. Also, all the other keys on the last 3 octaves of your keyboard on this jam were lookin' downtown and askin'..."when is he going to let us kick some piano-ass, huh????)

Toki be sayin'
I appreciate the listens guys. This was just a jam.

Jam very impotant. Good Jam make or break future real performance. Separates real musicians from poseurs.

Best of luck!

Smooth as a Big Baby's ass! That bass is in the driver's seat man, sounds great. Hey I liked both of the drummers, could you lend me one?:) Kool groove Toke-man!

David

Very nice. My only nitpick is that it seems a little (and I do mean, just a *little*) heavy on both the low and high end. I think I'd turn down those high hats by maybe 1 db and cut a little of that rumbly under-60hz area.

Nice blending of instruments. Good job!

Chris

I guess the two drummer thing worked ok. I appreciate the comments guys. This wasnt mixed very much and I never listened to it on the small monitors. I had it real crispy so I could hear the little stuff goin on. If i keep it I`ll do a better mix on it.

Chad, you are the breeze! yup one of the kits' snare ( luminunk miunk kotton) and hat sounded a lil like ass, I didnt give it as much eq as the other one had. Your right on on the verb. I wouldnt normally have that much crisp on the top end. But... the buzz and all..., you know :)

sound diagnosis, thanks man. One of the kits got washed over a little and the other hat dont come out enough, the other one was a little too repetitous. Next time I do this, I`ll be thinkin "drummer" a little more while i play it. I`m jus a bass player and dabble at keys. A lot of the piano racket wouldnt be there if I had a guitar to so some rythyms with. That's coming.. I always loved jammin'... it opens the heart and mind.

David, "smoooch" :) but you get to work with real drummers! I`ll lend you one of mine if you get in a pinch. :)

groucho, your right on it. I had them both boosted to hear the hats and the kick drums interacting and didnt do a serious final mix. thanks for listening. I appreciate the compliment.

I am in the groove man....

need lyrics? :D

shit this is sweet....
personally I would like to here the B3 screaming more...

Good stuff man...great groove,
Joe

P.S.
I am still lookin' for a vocalist for that Celtic/Renaissance tune...
No takers yet man...........
Hopefully soon...
Rock on,
Joe

Hey Toke,
Coool jam man. Very nice low end on this. Nice groovin bass work, and it sounds nice, tight and full.... ....J-lo bass???:D
The high hats are pretty crispy, but i read below that you know that. Also read chad's comment on the verb. ...dead on, imo. Drum playin sounds nice too. Is this V-drums? ....sorry if im being redundant.
Im lookin forward to where this goes.:)

Pretty smooth groove

Nice, clean sounds. Very cool groove.

I would like to hear some more tom work, or preferably have one of the drummers switch off to a 4 rack of congas, bongos, shimmer bells, etc. I like to hear the natural stuff mixed with a good groove, it adds texture.

Hey Ken - nice job on this. Especially for just jamming and getting something down. Wish I could do that :( :D.

Can't wait to see where this goes.

Hey...Bluejay drums...I have that. Just haven't figured out how to get it working with the Livesynth Pro yet :D
