suggestions on soundcard?

ok, here is my proposed setup:
a bunch of shure mics
either a yamaha mg16/6fx or yamaha mg24/14fx console, not sure which
no kind of extra outboard gear to start with
using acid pro 4.0 software along with sound forge.

question is, im not in the know of soundcards etc, so id like suggestions on which soundcards people reccomend i look into or consider getting. ive been looking at things like input modules and firewire aswell, with quite a few inputs, which might be more suitable in the end? quite an open question here, so just any comments on the matter would be great!

How many inputs do you want?

I just bought a Digi 002rack and I am delighted about it! Pro Tools Software, 4 preamps, 4 line in, 8 balanced out, ADAT in-out.. wel just check www.digidesign.com

Yeh those mixers will give you a ton of inputs.

The M-audio cards are very well priced now. Delta 44 gives you 4 inputs for $150. Best value soundcard would be the Delta 1010lt with 8 analog ins for under $230. That card also fives you a couple of preamps, s/pdif etc.
