I was comparing this version with "father and son" you did, and "you can close..." sounds much, much better (guitar sound, playing technique,voice,...).
As a suggest I think you can try improve the stereo image,maybe with a short "roomverb" on guitar, maybe voice too, but that´s a matter of taste.To me, as it is, is a "radio ready" song.

Rick, really nice guitar sound on this track. Not sure I've heard this tone before. Have you changed something in the signal chain?
The vocals are good also. I would like to hear a more up close sound on your voice. Keep this take, that's just a preference to see how it would sound.

I like it. Very open and clean with a little bit of the room in the vocals.
I could make suggestions on how to make it sound more modern and commercial, but that would be a mistake to me.
