i have an mbox 1 at home that i am going to set up for a home studio. i want to record rap/r&b, and i have a few ideas for a quality budget setup...

so i wil use the mbox..
connected to either a studio projects vtb1 or an maudio dmp3 preamp

i would use either of these two preamps with either a:
studio projects c1/b1
mxl v69
behringer b1
any other rap vocal mic in this price range...

does anybody have any recommendations with a preamp/mic combination

well...

i have a studio projects C1 going into a mindprint envoice (a very nice pre). into my M-box mini. Great results

Good vocal quality will depend on your treatment of your room or space you reacording your vocals at.

Just for FYI, theres no one mic thats particularly for rap vocals. You would be laughed at for asking lol.

As for your question. Like said
Good room treatment is a must. Your sound will depend on this & the actual performance and your levels or gain stages.

I'll have to get back to this post. Hetic schedule today

Man if there really was one good mic/preamp combo that worked for everybody, there'd be some madddddd companies wanting to secretly kill them off one by one....

Anyway, like what has been said before, room placement and treatment is essential.

Also, you can have the best equipment in the world and not know how to use it to your advantage....trust me, it happens.

Never rely solely on your equipment alone. It keeps your creative side limited to it.

Been a while since I posted ya'll, but I'm still around. Job keeps me hectic crazy and I've been bouncing back and forth to Orlando...might get somethin poppin down that way..we'll see how it goes.
