I'm from Australia and I used a Presonus Firebox for a couple of years. Good firewire card in my view.

Anyway, I'm now living in Hong Kong and want to buy a different firewire card for use over here.

So...if you are reading this and have any suggestions...that would be helpful.

A couple of years ago when I bought the Firebox I did a lot of research...but now I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to what the go is these days.

I want it to have headphone outs...

thanks for any suggestions

Belking and SIIG make good and reasonably priced firewire cards with the TexasInstruments firewire chipset.

Check with your sound interface manufacturer, but most REQUIRE you to get a TexasInstruments or Lucent chipset for proper operation.

Stay away from combo firewire/usb cards; lots of folks have reported problems with them.

I think he meant interface, not card. I may be wrong though.

Hmm...I'm not sure of the difference. I have this at the moment:

I guess it's an interface...I would like something like this...but since the one I own is in Australia I thought I would buy something similar for Hong Kong.

Either that or just get my brother to post it to me.

There are tons of HK ebayers selling TI firewire card. I just ordered one and had it shipped to Canada. No problem.

I am using a Motu 8pre which, according to the Motu site, requires firewire with either TI or Lucent chipset.

Thanks make1....I'm getting my bro to send me my Firebox from Australia...so plans to get a second device are on hold for now.
