This is the first thing I did with the Korg D1600 and I'd like some input regarding EQ and the overall mix. Drums, elect guit, and bass were all recorded 'live', as were vox and harmonica. I the vox and harm out though because they sounded like shit. Question - how can I get the song to +4dB in Wavelab? I can't seem to get it past 0dB.

Drums: C1000S overhead, sm57 on snare, AT4033 a few feet in front, AT Pro 25 on kick.

Guitar: sm57, copied to another track - each panned hard.

Bass: direct

Acousitc Guit: AT 4033 ~18 inches away, C1000S overhead, both via ART dual MP

No effects have been applied yet.

thanks!

0db is the limit in digital.......

couldnt get the download...it wanted a username and password.....

The limit in digital? I was of the understanding that most "pro" recordings are at +4. How do they do it?

I recently cancelled my web service and had to get a freebie storage space real quick. When it asks for the pwd, use this...

Dude, that is one slow website! Amazing is currently downloading at approx 700 bytes/sec. I will check it out when it finally finishes the download. Anyway the +4 db is a standard for "line level" analog audio signals, for example the output from a "professional" mixing board. It is a hotter (higher voltage) than a standard "consumer" line level such as the line outs from a tape deck, CD player, or guitar preamp. Record your stuff like you've been doing.

Okay, I get it, Maj T - thanks.

Yeah, the website is terrible. I've got one I'm getting ready to upload to right now, and then I'll post in another thread. Sorry about that.
