Hey everyone, I am in need of some suggestions on how to get a better sound for my bands recording. I have a few sample MP3's that I have posted on http://www.mp3.com/glikk and I would love some feedback on my work. This is the first time I have tried to record, produce my own music so I need some tips. I have a few mics, a great amp, a compressor, and a good sound card, but I don't have money to buy expensive stuff. If any of you could please listen to my work at the website, and then leave feedback here, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!!!

listening to 'all your friends'

pretty cool.. the highs seem to be a bit much, and that high-hat is toooo loud.. sounds like you boosted the highs quite a bit, maybe too much.. my mixes contain elements of mud, so keep in mind the source.. I like the tune, good lyrics.. nice bass sound.. the main thing that annoys me about this is the high-hat.. it's too loud IMHOP.. the Wah seemed a bit too bright right from the start.. maybe it's just me, but the high-hat seems too loud..

good tunes that you have there! the only thing is that everything happens in the middle and doesn't surround the listener - maybe if you'll pan some instruments a bit?

cool work!

Yeah that high hat is a little nasty. When I recorded this, I only had a one input soundcard, and I didn't do a very good submix on the drums... so I guess I just need to go in and cut the highs off all the drums. Everything IS in the middle on this too, so now that I have some stereo capabilities, I will start playing with that too. Thanks so much for the feedback! This is just the kind of stuff I am looking for!

Decent job. Nice use of 7th chords. I'm a sucker for that. I liked the tagline, "I hate all your friends." Who hasn't said that too themselves at some time? Not sure about the "...can't find my head" line. Didn't make sense, seemed like it was thrown in because it sort of rhymed and fit the structure.

The main rhythm guitar is quite a bit too bright - too much midrange. I agree with B.SAB on the highhat.

Liked the harmonies.

Flatline-Real good song.Lyrically,so-so.Nice groove.Like the blend of styles here.Vox new and refreshing.Drums need EQ,low end comin thru too much. What mics are you using?Song ran a little long, too.Intersting Guitar work.Recording-Average.Mix-Drums too loud.Performance-Very Good.Nice JAM...

Outer Space-Again, Interesting style blend.Same as before mix-wise.I bet the chicks dig this stuff;) .Vox decent here too.For some reason I keep expecting it to get heavier...

For the drums, we used some audix D1 D2 and D4 mics, combined with some SHS OM-500 mics. Anyone know about these?
