Any ideas what I should look at? I am looking for something that supports the dual-core Athlons and supports at least 3 old PCI slots. Most of the MoBos that I look at nowdays are those SLI type stuff that doesn't have enough PCI slots, plus they're based on the nForce 4 stuff that everyone says to stay away from.

How are the latest Via chipsets?

I have an Asus that is very stable but it doesn't seem to meet all your requirements. What's wrong with Nvidia chipsets? I've never had a problem with them.

Have a look at the MSI line. I have not had a problem with either the VIA or the Nvidia chipsets of the last couple of years. I know that MSI makes at least one motherboard with 3 PCI slots and a 939 chipset because it is my old one that I am selling:D

Xstatic, yeah, my current one is an MSI and I've been very happy with it, but I wanna upgrade from the Athlon XP 2300+ that I've got :)

Bigwillz, do you know what chipset is on your mobo?

I checked out the UAD site and they apparently have issues with some of the nVidia stuff (including nForce4 I think... although some of the newer ones are OK?).

I've been using an nForce4 board (socket 939) for a couple years now and haven't had any problems with it. MSI makes some good motherboards. I'd stay away from VIA chipsets still, as I've had nothing but trouble with previous ones.

Up until about a year ago I had been running MSI motherboards with VIA chipsets and never had any problems at all except for with an older MOTU 2408. As for the NF4 chipset, my UAD card had no problems or conflicts with it.

I hope a visit to this site, SmartRatings.com, might help in some ways. It has compilations of expert reviews for various motherboard models.

Asus mobo,Intel chipset, 2 UAD-1s, very fast, very stable
