I've got the search engine open here in HR, and also searching/cross-referencing the Guitar Center website.

I'm looking to purchase a condenser mic, today. Unfortunately I ain't got alot of dough to drop on the purchase, not at this time. I got dough, but if the boss(the wife) discovers that I dropped a large sum of change on a mic, somebody gonna end up singing the blues..and not in a good way.

Okay, enough of the bullshit. I'm an extreme knube at this recording thing....I have one shitty dynamic mic(Digital Reference DR VX1), and am thinking about going up to the Guitar Center to pick up a condenser for micing acoustic guitar and vocals. I've got about $100 bucks for the actual mic, seeing how I also have to pick up a stand and a cable. Yeah, I know, that's asking alot to get a decent mic for under $100...but it's not a long haul purchase, just something to get me through until later when I can get something better....and it never hurts to have a few extra mics laying around, I suppose.

I'm recording onto a Tascam 2488 neo.

How about this...

The Nady SCM 900 and CM 90 mic package

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Nady-SCM-900-CM-90-Studio-Mic-Package-776150-i1127290.gc

The "package" is $109.00...i'm throwing the budget out the window and living large! :laughings:

Will this be an extremely unwise purchase...do they suck? Like I said, it's just something to get me through for now.

If anyone has any suggestions or advise i'd be much appreciative.

Check out the Studio Project B1 or the Audio Technica 2020. I haven't tried these but i've heard good things about them. I use an M audio Luna, and i recently got a pair of Behringer C2s. Only $55, and surprisingly the sounds is pretty good.

+1 on the B1. Or an AT3035 if you can find one.

Thanks, i'm reading about the B1 right now.

Anyone know anything about the mic(s) I mentioned?...the Nady SCM 900 and CM 90?...although i'm not stuck on those mics, of course....I have read a few things that weren't exactly complimentary.

I know nothing about mics...years ago I sold all of my 57's and 58's I used to use live in rock bands.

I appreciate the replys...thanks.

edit: Judging from Guitar Center's website, it doesn't appear GC carries the Studio Projects B1.

I'm using an MXL990. Bang for the buck is great. They are about $50 and I have been very pleased with it.
