:) I don't know how much attention people here pay to Dual Channel ram configurations....but I wanted to let you know what worked and what didn't work for me...

I have a Dell 4600 PC, 2.8GHz HT (800MHz FSB) with 512Meg ram (2x256 Infineon brand) and I wanted a Ram upgrade....I have been seeing Ram pricing continue to drop, and so more is better at the right price...

Two weeks ago I picked up 512Meg of Kingston value Ram (CL3,PC3200) for $18 AR and today I got another stick for $22 AR ( both at CircuitCity). I plugged both of them in and my PC is running 1.5G Ram dual channel at 400MHz...sweet

I had also tried a Corsair Stick (CL2.5, PC3200), but the system Ram only ran at 333MHz dual or single channel with either the Kingston and/or infineon...so the corsair goes back to Outpost ( great price though -$25 AR).

..so Kingston Ram works well with Dell...no need for matched sticks....

OS is XP home....

Yea, - you can pick up a Dell plus an LCD monitor for around $449...no BIOS tweaking with Dell but that's probably why they just run ....
