I know that subliminal messages used to be placed in movies to get you to buy more refreshments. Tho I think it was outlawed. But if you saw the latest Spider-man movie, and all the sponsor ads placed in the background of every scene, you might question it .....

I'm sure if you do any digging you can probably find all sorts of interesting research on this.

Maybe this is what all of the boy-bands use .... (buy millions of copies .... buy millions of copies)....

Devo put subliminal messages in their film "The Truth About De-Evolution". There are quick frames that say 'submit' and 'obey'. Oddly enough, the film won every festival they sent it to. When the principal guys in Devo started doing advertising work, they kept putting in the subliminal messages. They did a McDonald's commercial with a 'Question authority' message, and stuff like that.

the theory is simple enough. you record a track at an "inaudible" level. Or space it out so it makes no cognizant sence. the idea is that the subconcious picks it up and translates it. forcing an impulse

My wife Makes sure we go to the comedy club every time Dustin Diamond comes to town. He calls us by name and parties with us when hes in KC.

Hell Have you seen the incredible looking teen chicks on that show?

The subconcious mind picks up on this stuff and controlls the youth of america. My personal favorite episode dealing with the subject was a Simpsons where Bart and his Pals were in a boy band and thier Message was "Join the Navy".

Shack,

I can tell you for certain that subliminal messages is a crock. Pure urban myth. I can't say if it was ever outlawed or not (how could it be given the free speech issue?), but it does not work. If a sound is too soft to hear, or a frame flashes by too quickly to see, then it is not perceived, period.

The simpsons once had a subliminial message bart was in a boy band and sendin out subliminial messages to join the navy some navy scam. im gonna try doing some now.

I think most studies of nickel theatres back in the 30s and 40s show that show popcorn one frame in 1000 or so does actually work. Plus, watch fight club where they insert porn shots.
If hypnotism can work, why not subliminal messages...? How else do you get Nazis?

I dont know if I totally believe in subliminal messages...

Ahhh... subliminal messages. Now there's something to think about!
Send me your money! And your mics and pres!
I wonder if that would have any use on an internet message board?

Enh...

i sorta remember that back in the 70s and early 80s EVIL DEVIL WORSHIPPING bands like Iron Maiden and AC/DC were putting backward masking in their songs...

now, i've never heard anyone talking backward, but i'm pretty sure if they kept telling me to kill 4 people... i would do it. not because they said it, but because they said it backwards.

most people don't really pay attention to the actual lyrics of most songs until they've heard the song around 10 times. so you'd better put your subliminal message in the hook and not the verses.

That’s what I would asK, how wILL YOU eveR exPect Anyone to undeRstand a subliminal mEssage wheN they can’T even underStand the lyrics?

(That took much more work than it was worth)

:D

That took WAY more work than it was worth.... :D

How about bush's campaign? Where he putted RATS in one of his commercials?

I did see the commercial from Bush. He tried to write it off as conincedence. Yeah right.

But that doesnt seem so important to me right now. I'm too mad at my parents for some reason. ;)

I'm an engineer not an english major dammit. :D

Forget bush, how about the democRATS who hide RATS right there in their name? Those bastards.

Now, I'll take rePUBlican's anytime.

Alright, I'm a nerd and looked it up.... from Paul Brian's list of common English error's:

Young people frequently use phrases like "way better" to mean "far better" or "very much better." In formal writing, it would be gauche to say that Impressionism is "way more popular" than Cubism instead of "much more popular."

so pbtttttt :p

All I see is republiCAN..... now excuse me for a couple minutes. I have the feeling like I need to use the restroom.... weird.

and everytime i re-read this forum I get mad at my parents... huh...
