Sublime'ish song (Need Critique Please!)

Hey so here is this song I just recorded for my buddies band, I am just looking for anything that anyone can notice in the mix that I can fine tune and fix up. The vocals get kind of sloppy near the end but they are gonna come in and fix that

let me know what you think overall and any pointers or tips you can throw me to help make this mix more solid would be awesome

Cool song. I really like the strings in there. The mix sounds good. The only thing I notice is that when all the instruments are playing the guitar tracks kind of get lost in everything. The kick could use a little bit more definition too, but good job!
 
The kick and bass are kind of muddied up together. Find some seperation there. The snare is kinda buried under all the crap going on. It could pop out a little more in certain spots. The rest sounds pretty good. I think the vox can come down into the mix some. Maybe compress them harder. Certain passages jump out really loud. When the main vox and backing vox (keys? can't really tell) play togther, they're very overpowering. The guitars sound good. I don't like the dueling solos, and the song is way too damn long, but that's just personal taste. :D
 
yeah ill work on clearing up that bass drum and getting some more snare pop in there. the song is part of a concept album which is why its so long, the entire thing flows together so this is only a small part of it actually but yeah thanks for the advice and ill work on it some more and post up a new version here soon
 
I just wanted to let you know that after a few days this song is still stuck in my head because I just really like it. You say it's part of a concept album, if you have any other stuff from that you want to share I'd love to hear it. Keep up the good work!
 
It sounds different...kind of a reggae feel to it at the beginning.

Dont take this as a mean comment however some of the guitar bits are either out of tune or out of key...its not blending very well.
 
yeah i actually cut this track in half entirely, ill put up the entire song on here once i get it all mixed. Its about 11 minutes total for this track
