Stuttering on record

I upgraded v. 3.3 from 16 to 24 bit and added a Delta 66 interface to my Win98SE Dell. Now N-Track is stuttering like hell when I move either digital or analog streams from my tracker aux into the Delta inputs. The clock runs for a couple of seconds, pauses and then keeps going. On playback everything collides because of the halting.

Playing back old tunes that were recorded at 16 bit using the digital inputs on an SBLive/Hoontech set works fine. I've played with it as much as I can without success. But I recorded this new stuff on the tracker at 24 bit and can't even move it as an analog mix.

Did N-track work out its ASIO driver issues with this stuff? Am I missing something (apart from upgrading the computer)?

Thanks...

I can't speak for the Delta ASIO drivers, but I have no issues with MOTU's ASIO drivers in 3.3.
Have you tried adjusting the buffers?
Are you using a second hard drive for the working directory?
Is DMA enabled on your drives?

Depending on the specs of your computer ... an upgrade may be in order, but even a PIII 700 MHz or equivalent with at least 256 Megs RAM or more should do a reasonable number of tracks.
One upgrade I would recommend is XP Home. Much more stable than the 98 flavors.

I think it's the computer. W98SE is just plain impolite. I moved the interface to another unit (P4 & XP) and it works better, although there are still clicks going on - more twiddling ahead...

Thanks.
