Stupid question

Uhh... what do I connect my monitors to? Do I connect them directly to a soundcard or what?

If they are actives, you can connect them to your soundcard or (monitor-) mixer, depending on the connections. If they are passive monitors, you'll need some sort of amplifier which you connect to your soundarc or mixer's output, and to the monitors.

They are actives... can soundcard quality affect the sound quality of the monitors?

The soundcard effects the quality of the sound reaching the monitors. Running the sound through something else after the soundcard is not going to make anything better.

Any recommendations on a good soundcard? My monitors -will be- BX8s, and i will be using it to record rap vocals... I dont know how many inputs i will need but i use only one mic which will go into the soundcard, then the monitors going into it also...
