Bring Back Transfat!
I'm curious whether or not most FX units like S100 or MPX 100 distinguish between the types of signals that are being fed to them. If they handle vocals and guitar signals in real time, then why couldn't you process vocals through a guitar box like a GNX2?

You can, back in the day of my first cassette 4 track I used a Boss analog delay pedal for Fx :D .
The catch is that guitar processors, even the modern ones arent very high fidelity, some of them use sample rates as low as 22,000 which means basically no sounds above 11khz can be reproduced, they tend to be noisy and they use crude algorythms which simply dont sound very good. They can get away with all these things because the guitar has a relatively narrow frequency spectrum and they are mostly intended for live use anyway.
If you get a chance try running your guitar through a lexicon chorus or reverb, believe me you will hear a difference.

This GNX samlpes at 44.1 and has 24bit A/D converters and I thought it was worth asking about. But I seem to remember reading something about guitar signals being different from vox.

What do you think about the Lexicon or Alesis units for processing vocals?

Try it, why not, it might actually be great for certain special effects :D

I still think it might be noisy and it's pretty common for the reverb algorythms to suck in guitar processors.

The Lexicon gets a definite thumbs up, the Alesis stuff wont sound quite as good but is still great bang for the buck gear.

Best deal I had in awhile was buying an Alesis Microverb for $49 on sale at Guitar Center. My reverb on my guitar amp had broken, now the Alesis unit is my guitar effects box and it sounds great for that.

Don't know if this will interest you at all or not but alot of people run drums through a pod(or in your case GNX.)

Get a Y-cable and run your vox into one track clean and into another through your processor. Mix the processed track lower than the clean one and you've got instant vox with character!

Go for that Ministry vocal sound or maybe Deftones. I don't know if it's really that easy but damnit it should be!
