Hat STYLE. Not contents.
I've got a PC with an Audiophile 2496. Originally, the only way that I could hear anything with it was using the headphone jack on the motherboard. I played with some settings to try to get output from the RCA jacks on the soundcard. At first, I only succeeded in getting the headphones to stop getting anything. Then, with some help from these forums, I got the RCAs to start working. I now have my sound card running into my bass amp as the primary speaker.

Unfortunately, I want to record with this computer, and I can't have that kind of interference once I start using microphones. The only sound that I can get to come out of the headphones is the speaker test fanfare. DOes anyone know anything I could do to fix this? Thanks.

Get a small inexpensive mixer like the Behringer UB802 and run the Audiophile outputs into it. Then you can monitor with headphones or with speakers.

That's actually what I'm going to have running into the input of the card. (except it's a UB602)
