I bought a Studiomaster 16-4-2 via eBay recently. I'm really happy with the sound of this board... a big step up from my Mackie.

However, I can't figure out for the life of me how to get Solo to work. It doesn't seem to do anything! The solo light comes on, but I still here the main mix. I don't see any switches for turning it "on" nor do I see any way to route cable and make it work.

Any ideas?

I don't have any experience with this board but perhaps you are monitoring from an output that is not affected by the Solo function? What output are you monitoriing from?

Ok, well after reading your response, I decided to make extra sure that every output didn't work with solo. Of course, the one I didn't try, the single "monitor" output, worked (doh!). So, unless this is a single stereo 1/4" output, I have to monitor in mono. I'm going to make a stereo Y-cable and find out.

It is probably a stereo Tip Ring Sleeve type jack. You can use an "insert" cable to test it out. I have an older Soundtracs Solo 24 channel mixer that uses this same configuration for the monitor out section.

Yup, I just popped in my headphones and it was indeed in stereo. :o

Thanks for the help. If I had actually used my brain, I wouldn't have had to post!

studiomaster P7

Hi

I'm desperatley hoping someone might be able to help me, I bought a
studiomaster P7 Recently and it has switched permanently into the
security mode.

Neither the original code nor the factory reset code do anything and it
remains permanently with "P1" in the display, all mute lights on and
flashing busses.

Any help resetting or overriding it would be very much apreciated as
the shop I bought it from is being rather less communicative than pre
sale.

Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim,

You'll probably get an answer if you start a new thread. If somebody who can answer your question doesn't bother to read THIS thread, you've missed an opportunity to get your question answered. Starting a new thread will give your question more visibility.

Good luck!

Keith

solo button issue

if you have your monitor speakers connected to the XLR jacks the solo button will not work. it only applies to the 1/4in. sets of monitor outs. this is because the board is intended for live use as well as in the studio so XLR outs would normally be connected to the main PA system where as local monitors would connect to the 1/4 in jacks
