Hello all,

I am in the process of setting up a project studio. As of right now the recording interface is a delta 1010lt (ubalanced i/o), but I will be upgrading to a motu 24i/o (balanced i/o) in a few months, but I only want to do the studio/patchbay wiring once. So my question is how should I properly wire in my dela1010lt to my balanced patchbay and balanced wiring in the studio. The Motu is going to have balanced i/o, so I want the change over to be as seemless as possible. I was thinking about making cables with some pads to convert the +4 signals down to -10. And I have an old adat that I could use to bring the -10 to +4. Does this seem like it would work? Or am I totally going in the wrong direction with this? Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

David

Building pads into the cables doesn't sound like a great idea. Running through an old ADAT's converters doesn't sound too great either. Isn't the 1010LT switchable between +4 and -10?

Make all your cables 2-conductor, that way all you have to do is swap the connectors from RCA to TRS when you upgrade.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. I was tired when I posted the question and was over thinking the problem. :) Your right the delta 1010lt does do +4 or -10. So the cable thing seems to be a good idea.

Thanks.
