Studio(Vocal) Effects Software?

I have been recording and mixing my own stuff for a long time now. I have yet to find that one program where I can get all of the effects on my vocals that I want. I am in need of all the experts help out there! I have seen glimpses of good effects in some programs and have even seen vocal pedals for live performances that have better effects than most recording software out now.

I am using a large condenser mic and have used programs like Auto-tune, cakewalk, and fruity loops. I am looking for something better/cheaper.

What is it exactly you feel the programs you've used are lacking? Generally you settle on a program that you like and then buy/download plugins to fit your needs.
