Hi guys,

Im about to embark on recording an album in my shed. It will be folky/rocky stuff along the veins of elliot smith, pavement, sufjan stevens... yadda yadda. It will be pretty lo-fi as i will be recording onto a Tascam TSR-8 with an 8 channel souncraft 200b desk. Mic wise i have a few 58's, and AT4030 and a 1976 sony ecm-99 stereo electret condenser. I also have a borrowed Joe Meek compressor. I need a few more things like a decent pair of monitors, maybe another mic, another compressor (think i will get a second hand rnp) and an multi effects unit that sounds nice and warm and wont 'cheapen' the sound. Has anyone got any recomendations? Anything that will fit in well or compliment the tascam? My budget is around £350-400 so about $700 -800 for monitors, mic, compressor, multi effects etc. I dont mind going secondhand and i presume alot of the stuff i get will be, so any help would be much appreciated.

thanks
euan

The KRK RP-5s are pretty good for 300 bucks, worked out quite well for me.
