Well, with a recent mic upgrade, I threw in a B-1 due to rave reviews, because I wanted to audition it, and there are no local brick & mortar outlets. My basic conclusion is that it is quiet, clean, hot, and the best condenser I've heard in the $100 or less range. (Note here, I haven't had a chance to play around with a V67). I found it far more versatile than the MK319, but in some ways that's a downside. The 319 sounds like no other mic I own, and the B-1 sounds *almost* as good as some of my better mics, but doesn't have as much character as most of them. This means, unfortunately, I will sell it. This isn't a cut to this affordable and versatile mic, just a statement that it can't do anything an AKG C414B-ULS can't do better. If I was looking for a first condenser on a tight budget, it would be my first choice.
What a shock, it reminds me a little of my C-3. Well, it's up for grabs for $70, and I'll pay the shipping. What the hell, it was worth the loss of $15 or so just to audition it. I'd have to call it the state of the art of cheap condenser mics, but it's still a cheap mic.-Richie
