Hello All

Anybody know of any good books or websites devoted to laying out a recording area? Not pro, just e.g. soundproofing a basement.

I have a 25'x25' area to play around in but it needs acoustic foam insulation and the stuff isn't cheap. Looking for insight on how to lay it all out. I've played in studios that were just "far too dead" so it doesn't have to be fully soundproofed, I just want to dampen the "cement room reverb" effect.

Any ideas where to get more info?

Thanks - JB

Our own Studio Building forum would be a good place to start. I don't have any links handy but Ethan Winer and John Sayers both have sites dedicated to studio acoustics.

JB,

There are products and materials much better than foam. Ironically, better materials like rigid fiberglass cost less than foam!

Stop by my Acoustics forum at www.recording.org and read the forum FAQ. Then browse through the existing messages and/or post a new one.
