I have been trying to learn how to use my new VS880ex and I keep on running into the same problem. I have tried everything to fix it but I find the manual of no help. Here is the problem. I follow very carefully the manual's instructions on setting up to record and when I finally get to where I press the record button, it just keeps on blinking- indicating that I'm not in recording mode.At other times I dont seem to have the problem so I know its me and not the equipment.I have a feeling its a routing problem.I do know I have a signal on the input meter but I guess it's not getting to the recorder section for some reason. Obviously I am new to this and would be thankful for any help. Also is there a better book or manual for the 880? Thanks

Check to see if you are arming the trac that you want to record to. I don't own one of these but most of the HD recorders that I have seen need a track to be armed in order to make a recording.

Yeah, you need to arm the track(s) you want to record to.You do this by holding down the record button and pressing the STATUS button(s) so they blink red. Now,hen you enter record mode the track(s)will stay red and record whatever is coming into the inputs you have assigned them to. Here's a good source of VS info: http://www.vsplanet.com

Thanks so much for the help guys. You were both right and now I'm off and recording.I think I've found a new home!! Brent
