stuck at the mic

I have begun recording with the MR-8 and my microphone doesn't seem to be picking up a signal to be recorded. it picks up the guitar when i plug it into the input A guitar input but not the mic when it is plugged into the input beside the guitar input. why no mic
 
switch

there is a swithch on the back you have to change to go from the 1/4 input to the xlr input. probably will fix the prob

Unfortunately you can't record mic and guitar out of just input A. You need to put guitar in A and mic in B or vice versa. Then you can only record on 5/6. This will put guitar on 5 and mic on 6. So any way you dice it you still use 2 tracks. So why not record guitar first, then overdub your vocal. It's much easier and gives you more control. You can bounce them up to 5/6 and have 1-4 left over. Good luck Pj

NO NO NO There is a switch on the back of the unit, that changes between the mic inputs, the guitar inputs, and the internal microphone. The mic would be on an xlr input, and the guitar on a 1/4. wont work.

(this is why i run all of my stuff through a mixer, so i can feed EVERYTHING through the xlr or line input..which ever i choose)

then he said "Then you can only record on 5/6" Not True. You can record onto 5/6 or 7/8. BUT you CAN also record onto 1/2 or 3/4 if you want.

The ONLY thing you can't do is this. If you are using a SINGLE input, it has to go into channel A. You can not use input B alone.

IF using only 1 input, You can assign INPUT A to track 1,2,3,4, 5 (six will be blank) and 7 (8 will be blank)

you can assign a stereo input (or two mono inputs) to channel 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 or 7/8

i think pj ment that if he is not going through a mixer and needs two mics, one for guitar,and one for vocals, to be recorded during the same take, you would need to use both inputs on the mr8 at once..... which DO have a switch on the back of...

its very hard for us to get ideas communicated clearly through text only...hahahahh

i know it is for me....
