String Noise

I recorded my band live with my Sony MD 4trac recorder (2trac only). There was a lot of string noise on my bass due to new strings and my tweeter cut off switch had accidentally been knock back on in loading.

Otherwise some good cuts. Question: Can those frequencies be tweaked? If so in what range do they fall?

Between 2-3kHz

But carefull the upper clarity will be affected also.
 
I had to thank you again. I've worked on a new mix and it's turned out much better. God I love this place!

well, I usually use flatwound strings when I am in the studio. I know most people don't, but it cuts off finger noise on the bass considerably, especially since I only have an acoustic bass. Just a suggestion.

I thought of another solution that is alike.
If you have it you can use a lowpass filter. Thats also lke EQuing but if you have it on your mixer or software it will free you Eq for other matters.

I do have lowpass filter but I have yet to use it. I may play with it though to see how it works with this problem.

In a different subject forum here someone has told me that I may be adding problems with my editing software, Goldwave, ie. editing a 16bit signal without dithering. Heady stuff for this newbie, but it's made me conscious of performing too many edit functions.

I can't believe after all these years of playing bass that using flat wound strings didn't occur me. I'm going to try some next set. Just goes to show we are all creatures of habit.
