I just got a American Fat strat with 2 texes specials and a "pearly gates" humbucker in it (SSH). OK so I was wondering about replacing the humbucker with another texas special. I have not taken off the pickgard to see whats under it yet, and was wondering about the routering in the body. and is the five way switch on it set up defferintly in the bridge/mid position?

Or should I just leave the guitar as it is? I do like the sound of the Humbucker but it dosn't match the others as much as I would like it too.
Thanx

Most American strats have a "swimming pool " route
under the pickguard because they used so many different
pickup configurations...chances are yours is this way.
You should be able to put any pickup in the bridge position.
As far as should you do it.......follow your heart there. At least you won't have to route the body.I agree.....the rear pickup seems to dwarf the front two.THe only way to remedy
this is to change the front and middle pickups to a hotter model(and thus, sacrificing highs in most cases),and then
lowering the rear pickup.I've always liked my strats to be stock, but again, find your tone.Good luck.

I would go with another Texas Special at the bridge....
For wiring info use this link:
http://www.guitar-parts.com/fender.html This a site with very good schematics for most fender guitars. Since you will be using three Texas Special pickups, you may want to wire your guitar like the SRV model......have fun and don't burn yourself with the soldering iron.
