If any of you guys are like me, and I know you are: Along with all of the preferences you have, strings, picks, guitars, amps, pedals, all the way down to connectors on cables and the like.....what is your strap of choice?

I'm in love with Levi's - Heirloom straps, I've got one on damn near every guitar I have. I'm not sure what it is but other straps just don't feel right, the Heirloom always feels like home.

plain black woven strap only for me if i have my choice.

Just about any good wide leather strap. The problem comes in finding a good simple leather strap. You know, one nice piece of leather, not lamented or stitched or any of that shit. The better Levy's ones are pretty nice, and Planet Wave's has some really nice ones from South America (I can't remember what they are called). I've also been looking lately at Jodi Head straps, but I haven't actually tried one yet.

I like the skinny ones like Jimmy Page used to use. My favourite is the skinny black Rickenbacker strap. Also have a few of the thin stock Fender straps. Not a fan of the wide ones.

I make my own straps from soft leather
there is a saddle shop down the street who gives me scrap leather for projects like guitar straps, belts, gun holsters, knife sheathes and what not.:)

And what not? :D

A good wide plain leather strap, accept no substitute when gigging with neckdivers. With Schaller straplocks. ...Tend to scratch the side of my neck though.. But the basses, and the LP-baritone are some heavy SOB:s to wrestle through, for example, two 40min sets in a row, like I did on friday.
Wearing excessive bullet-belts, spikes and oilbased corpsepaint.:D

Plain black woven Ernie Ball strap with Dunlop strap locks attached.

My fav. is an old one I made for myself in '77 from an old scout belt - soft leather, sturdy, right length etc.
For my semi acoustic Bruno I use a thin soft black leather strap with a wide section that sits where it crosses my shoulder - light guitar, light strap.
For my solid body bass - a wide soft natural colour leather strap.
I have a woven strap or two but none of them clip over the knobs well enough to make me feel comfy.

Wide leather strap.
It's a good thing I've got quite a few because good ones are getting harder to find and they cost a mint.

The most comfortable strap I've found for my Les Paul is one that I've been using for 25+ years. It's wide (3 1/4") leather and it's contoured, i.e., if you lay it out on a flat surface, it's not straight. It has a bowed section where it goes around the back of my neck. I don't remember where I got it and I haven't seen another like it anywhere.

And straplocks, definitely, especially on a Les Paul. The way the front button is positioned on a LP, it's very easy for a non-locked strap to pull off. Before straplocks were available, I fashioned a clip out of coathanger wire (sort of a big safety pin) and replaced the front strap button with a wood screw eye. The clip attached to the screw eye after slipping the strap end over it.

EDIT: My strap is a Fretsling, and they apparently aren't being made any more. There's one on ebay right now with a BIN pricetag of $100.
