Out of all the mics in the locker, name the strangest combination that you've used for drum overheads. (and got a surprisingly nice sound)

I once used a pair of beta 98s. Maybe I should get a clip of that. They seemed to work well in a crammed environment when playing loud.

Two 20 year old Cerwin Vega 18 inch subs, magnetically stuck to two mic stands on both sies of the kit. Great old black sabbath sound.

Ok, I made that up. On an unrelated note, but related to my false story, we used to have this old blown Vega 18inch sub, it was blown bad and sounded like shit. A friend of mine had this big jacked up 4 wheel drive truck ( a deisel) and we stuck it to the side of the truck, where it would point right into peoples car windows at stoplights and stuff, and had it hooked to this HUGE Kenwood car stereo amp. It sounded god awful and it was LOUD. It was incredibly funny at the time, enough to make you cry.
ON a related to THAT story note, that same truck smoked pretty bad, old stinky ass deisel exhaust, well, since it was jacked up, the tailpipe would most times point right into people cars. After he blasted them with that old junkie sub stuck on the outside of the truck, he would pull up just right where the tailpipe was aimed in thier car, and rev the shit out of it. You could see the smoke come out the passenger side window.
Why did that seem so funny back then? I dunno. I dunno why I'm telling the story either, but oh well.

I love your story Tubedude, that's awesome. Doing stuff like that when you're a kid is some of the best moments of your life and remembering it keeps you young.

I used to use two Nady scm900s four feet away with the -10db switch on. (they have them on the board but no switch outside.) but that was before I got the Mxl 603s, the Behringer measurement mics and the crown Pzms.

A Fostex ribbon (large mic). Made back in the 80s I think. Quite a wonderful sound.
