I've been quite pleased, recording and nearly finishing my first CD of 15 songs.
I had a strange experience with a friend that came over with his percussion instruments to add some percussion to a number of tracks.
First of all, I have the bundled software package of Aardvark Direct Pro with Cakewalk 9.0...
We used various set-ups for mic'n his drums...but what was wierd is...for some unknown reason a track would decide it would pick up the signal. For example, I'd set up the track Source, calling upon left side 3/4 of theDirect Pro and Port 3,4 Direct. For one song...such a setting would work. For another we test a record and no signal or a very weak signal would show. I'd relent, decide I'd have to share a rhythm guitar track with the drums..set things back up, and that would show a recorded signal.
So first of all...is it just the nature of computers to get testy and moody? My system is a newer built multi media system with 256 RAM, over a gig of hertz and 20 Gig drive.
Does anyone else have tracks act fickle and choose for some odd reason not to be interested to record a signal or a weak one?
Secondly...I had one song where I had recorded his drums on the 5,6 track...and during playback...suddenly the vocals were louder and rhythm guitar it was wierd. I muted all other tracks but his drums, and during the drum parts...we'd hear this feedback or bleed thru of the vocals and guitar.
I did bypass the effects from the Direct Pro, using only the effects from the Cakewalk....so I have no idea why that would have happened. If you are familiar with the Aardvark Direct Pro...in order to record the virtual board's fx you have to be in the 5,6 track. I figured if we had the board bypassed, then the 5,6 track ought to simply function as a regular track. Any idea why that happened????
