Strange EZ Drummer MIDI problem

I was recording some drums through EZDrummer into Cubase using a DTXplorer electric drum kit.

I accidentally let the hi-hat pedal slip open when I was playing a section with closed hi-hat.

The problem is now I can't get rid of the open hi-hat.

I have replaced all the hi-hat hits with new ones but it still opens at the same point. There are no random midi notes either, somehow the closed hi-hat note is triggering an open hi-hat.

Also when i remove the closed hi-hat note it doesn't play anything, so i know it's not coming from anywhere else.

I have tried overwriting the section with a closed pedal but im still getting the random open hit!

Does anyone know where you can control the pedal open/closed parameter?

Thanks...

srry, I have no clue how you would do that, I looked but no luck..

has it ever happened before?

maybe its just a glitch.

let me know if you find the settings tho

This is a problem I've come across before. I know that information of how open the hihat is saved somewhere but have no idea where. Here's a quick work around: Create a new midi track directly below your drum track. Zoom in and use the drumstick tool to draw in the closed hihats on the new track, route the output to ezdrummer then delete the problem notes from the track above.

If it's a small section you could draw in all the hits on the track below and slice out and replace.

Have you checked in the midi editor?? I'm assuming you did. Sometimes a drum hit will be mapped twice on a different part of the piano roll. Maybe it's below or above your screen and you have to scroll to see it. That's happened to me before.

You can also download drum maps from toontrack to help you identify which note is the open hat. Other than that, don't know what else it could be. Good luck.

Just to let you all know, i found out how to do it.

In Cubase 5 at the bottom of the MIDI editor there is a window which shows the velocity of the notes as a "bar graph" (short bars for soft notes, tall bars for hard notes).

If you change the selection box on the left of this window from "Velocity" to "Foot" it brings up a line which represents the hi-hat foot position. Using this line you can open or close it by moving it to the top or bottom of the window.

There are also a bunch of other things you can control using this, but i forget what they all are.

I hope that was clear enough!
